hey! i'm mary ann hurtado. i'm a singer-songwriter writing from the in-between: my upbringing in texas + Venezuela ... instinct + overthinking ... confidence + doubt ... light + something heavier just beneath.
i feel so lucky to have grown up in a house full of music from all over, particularly my mom's vallenato and george strait, my dad's gaitas and fleetwood mac, and somehow ended up emotionally attached to the goo goo dolls, fiona apple, early shakira, flyleaf, and paramore.
i'm mentored by two of the coolest people i've ever met, sarah kelly and jonas ekman, and landed on the grammy ballot for best rock performance. how cool is that?? mostly, my music is a love letter to my inner child, and at the same time, the person i hope to become. i hope my music makes you laugh, cry, scream, dance, and meet your feelings where they are.
